Violence in Balochistan: BNP Activists Among Five Killed; Bullet-Riddled Body Found

QUETTA: At least five people, including a religious leader, were killed and four other wounded in separate acts of violence in different towns of Balochistan on Wednesday while a bullet-riddled dead body was recovered in Mastung.

According to police, Maulvi Ali Muhammad Mengal was on his way in Master’s colony, Sariab area of Quetta when armed men riding a motorbike opened indiscriminate fire on him. Resultantly, he received critical wounds died instantly. The attackers fled easily from the scene.

Police moved the body to hospital for autopsy and handed over to heirs after completing legal formalities. However, police say motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

In another incident, two workers of Balochistan National Party (BNP-Mengal) were gunned down in Khuzdar.

Unidentified armed assailants sprayed a volley of bullets on Sulman and Waheed Ahmed at Double Road of Khuzdar. As a result, both sustained multiple wounds and succumbed to their injuries. The bodies were moved to nearby state-run hospital for autopsy.

A large number of BNP-Mengal workers rushed to the hospital after being informed about the tragic incident. The murder sent a wave of grief in the area.

In Qila Abdullah, unknown people armed with sophisticated weapons shot dead one Humayun in Mazai Adda and succeeded to escape from the scene following the killing.

Levis Force citing the killing a case of old enmity said raids were being conducted to arrest the killers.

In another incident, a person was killed and two wounded in a firing incident between two groups in Barkhan over a piece of land. The dead and injured were moved the nearby hospital.

In Mastung, two persons identified as patwari Javed and Tayab Khan were wounded in Mastung town when armed people riding a motorcycle opened fire on them and fled the scene. The injured were first moved to local hospital Mastung and later shifted them to Quetta for further treatment owing to their precarious condition.

Separately, Levies Force personnel on a tip-off recovered a bullet riddled body from Dasht area of Mastung and moved it to hospital. The victim was hit by bullet in head. However, the identity of victim could not be ascertained immediately.
